house of the dragon family tree

Corlys is the head of house Velaryon, and the husband of Rhaenys Targaryen. The Velaryons are not big players in GoT, but in House of the Dragon, it's clear that Corlys, also known as the Sea Snake, is not someone to be messed with. The Velaryons are also a family with dragon-riders and appropriate partners for the Targaryens. Daeron would eventually pass away during the Great Spring Sickness after 25 years on the throne.

Census Records[edit edit source]

Still, the two Velaryon children will come to play important roles in the future of the show as key allies to various Targaryens. Maegor ruled for just six years before he died—his council found him impaled on his own Iron Throne. (Ouch!) Whether he was murdered or injured himself on the throne rumored to prick kings unworthy of sitting on it is up for debate.

Aegon II Targaryen

Known as Maegor the Cruel, he also denounced the claims of Aenys’ only surviving son, Jaehaerys, and married his three Black Brides. The Hightowers are a powerful house allied to the Targaryens and the Tyrells of Highgarden in House of the Dragon. They include recent widower Otto Hightower – Hand of the King to Viserys I, the father of Alicent and Gwayne, and the younger brother of Hobert Hightower, who swore fealty to Princess Rhaenerya at the end of episode one.

Prince Jacaerys Velaryon

He ended up outliving both his wife and heirs, thus setting up a contested line of succession. Jaehaerys and Alysanne ruled well together and their reign was a golden age for the Targaryens. They also had tons of kids but only four of them really mattered in the long term. After the time jump before Episode 8, Jace is a thoughtful young man who is already preparing for his duties as king. He's extremely loyal to his mother, and he'll have an important place as Rhaenyra's heir in Season 2.

Targaryen Family Tree: Everyone Who’s Appeared in ‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘Game of Thrones’

Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" companion novel, "Fire & Blood." However, the majority of House of the Dragon’s characters are obviously ancestors of characters we’re familiar with from the original series. To help us all keep it straight in our minds, here’s how the prequel bunch connect down the line to the Targaryens, Starks, Lannisters and Baratheons we already know. Prince Jacaerys Velaryon is the eldest son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and is second in line to the Iron Throne after his mother. In the finale of the first season, Daemon crowns Rhaenyra with her father's crown and she becomes the disputed ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock, Emma D'Arcy) is the first-born daughter of King Viserys Targaryen and Queen Aemma Arryn and is the King's only legitimate child at the start of the season. Viserys ruled over the realm at a time of relative peace and prosperity and was married to Queen Aemma Arryn, who is played by Sian Brooke in the series. However, his final message - which had been intended for Rhaenyra - was instead said to Alicent, prompting her to seize the throne for their eldest son, Aegon.

The son of the Sea Snake, Laenor Velaryon (John MacMillan) marries Rhaenyra Targaryen largely for political purposes. Laenor is gay, and he and Rhaenyra agree to an open marriage before they’re betrothed. Unfortunately, Laenor’s sexuality seems to be the worst-kept secret in Westeros, so the parentage of his supposed children with Rhaenyra are constantly under scrutiny.

Breaking Down the Complex Targaryen Family Tree on House of the Dragon

The beginning of House of the Dragon takes place 172 years before Princess Daenerys Targaryen's birth. As the younger brother of King Viserys, Daemon was the presumed heir to the throne until Viserys revoked his heirhood and named Rhaenyra his successor. When Aemma dies after Viserys orders that she undergo a C-section against her will, the line of succession is thrown into chaos. With no son to pass the crown to, Viserys removes his younger brother, Daemon, as his heir and instead names Rhaenyra as his successor. He married his cousin, Queen Aemma, and they had one daughter, Princess Rhaenyra. This is where the 'Conqueror' bit of his title comes in, as the Targaryens left their seat on Dragonstone to unite the Seven Kingdoms and seize power at King's Landing.

William McPherson donated the original documents to the Claremont Colleges. California county clerks were to keep voting registers every other year from 1866 and well into the 20th century. These large books, called Great Registers, listed the men who registered to vote in that county. Besides name and age, the record may show place of birth, address, occupation, naturalization date and sometimes even a physical description.

Jon was shown to be the legitimate son of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Lady Lyanna Stark, who were revealed to have legitimately married and conceived him, naming him Aegon. Aerys II is a direct descendant of King Viserys I Targaryen through his daughter Rhaenyra.

Eventually, the Targaryen civil war culminates with Rhaenyra battling for the Iron Throne against her younger brother. Since House of the Dragon will showcase the volatile events that lead up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the Dance of the Dragons, a refresh on who's who in the line of succession may be due. Cast your minds back to Game of Thrones season 8, and you'll remember the big reveal that Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was a Targaryen. Growing up, he'd always believed he was the bastard son of Ned Stark, but his late parents were actually Ned's sister, Lyanna Stark, and Rhaegar Targaryen, Daenerys' older brother. This makes him Daenery's nephew and the great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson of Aegon the Conqueror. As per episode 1's opening text, we know that Daenerys Targaryen, AKA Game of Thrones' Mother of Dragons (played by Emilia Clarke), was born 172 years after the events of House of the Dragon kick off.
